TUNNEL HILL, Ga. - A celebration broke out Wednesday at Northwest Whitfield High School, and it had nothing to do with the end of exams or the school year nearly being over.

The search for a football coach is over and popular longtime assistant coach Josh Robinson was officially hired as Mike Falleur's replacement. Robinson has been at Northwest for eight years, the last five as Falleur's defensive coordinator. Principal Britt Adams, who headed the coaching search, was pleased he didn't have to go far to find his man.

"When we began the search we asked two questions," Adams said. "One, are we happy with the direction of the program? And, two, do we have someone on the current staff we feel can lead us in the right direction? We were able to answer yes to each and Josh was clearly the one."

Falleur announced in March that he was taking the head coaching and athletic director positions at Villa Rica High School after nine seasons as the Bruins' head coach. Falleur posted a 58-37 overall mark at Northwest and took the program to the Class AAAA playoffs four times. Northwest won nine games, including a first-round playoff game, in the 2004 and 2007 seasons.

Adams said the news that the Whitfield County Board of Education had approved Robinson's hiring set off a celebration.

"It was some sight," Adams said. "When we told the players they were overjoyed. They literally stood up and cheered. We're all very happy with the choice."
