Prep basketball standouts for Dec. 19

C.J. Reese, McCallie: He scored 26 points as the Blue Tornado won a battle of unbeatens in the St. Francis Shootout in Alpharetta, Ga., 65-61 over Southside of Greenville, S.C. McCallie (7-0) plays for the championship tonight.

Perry Thomas, Marion County: He had 12 rebounds with 15 points in the Warriors' 74-45 win over Leroy (Ala.) in the Coca-Cola Christmas Tournament at Gulf Shores.

Chandler Abbott, Hixson: His 20 points led the Wildcats over Boyd Christian, 64-46, in the Sun Drop tournamnent at Warren County High.

Chadarryl Clay, GPS: She had 20 points, seven assists and four steals as the Bruisers improved to 10-1 with a 73-36 defeat of Walker Valley.

Erika Woodfin, Dade County: She had 21 points with six 3-pointers in the Lady Wolverines' 42-36 victory over Central Magnet in the Christmas Classic at Community, Tenn., near Murfreesboro.

Destanie Smith, Bledsoe County: She had 21 points for the Lady Warriors, but Bledsoe lost 72-55 at Clarkrange as the 1,000th victim of Lamar Rogers in his 36 years of coaching there, with eight state championships and a runner-up finish. Rogers is sixth all-time in high school coaching victories, with only the late Jim Smiddy (Charleston and Bradley Central) ahead of him in Tennessee with 1,217.
