McCallie coach Dan Wadley had seen enough.

With his team limited to one field goal in the first half of its jamboree quarter Monday night against Howard, Wadley called time out with 6:21 remaining and the Blue Tornado down 9-6.

The words spoken woke them up.

McCallie went on a 16-2 run after the timeout and defeated the Hustlin' Tigers 26-17 in the last of eight matchups at Chattanooga State.

C.J. Reese led the Tornado with seven points, while Cordell James added six.

"The pregame warmups were a circus atmosphere," Wadley said. "All the guys were out there dunking and not taking warm-ups seriously, so we weren't focused when the game started.

"After that timeout, we took off."

Howard coach Walter McGary was not unhappy with his team.

"Once we can get over the early jitters and learn to take care of the ball, we can be pretty good," he said. "We have to have a leader step up and stop making stupid turnovers, but I saw some really good things out there."

• Ooltewah 30, East Hamilton 21: The Owls showed they can score -- both quickly and in masses. They got the first 10 points of the game and closed with a flurry after their 12-point margin was trimmed to three, getting dunks in the final 2:42 by Andre Moton, Jervon Johnson and Mikhail Creech.

Moton led the Owls with 10 points. East Hamilton's Cody Knox was the leading scorer of the evening with 15 points.

"Scoring is not going to be a problem for us," Ooltewah coach Jesse Nayadley said. "We just have to make sure we share the wealth and stop the ball, because we have a lot of different ways we can score, and by a lot of people."

• Tyner 19, Notre Dame 13: The Rams jumped to a 10-2 lead and held on with seven players scoring, led by Trey Suttles with six points. The Irish were led by Kareem Orr's and Stedmon Ford's four each.

• GPS 29, Howard 10: The Lady Tigers scored the first point of the evening, but the Bruisers reeled off the next 24 for the victory. The defending Division II-AA state champions were led by Chadarryl Clay's 11 points. Myia Lee and Autumn Green had four apiece for Howard.

• East Hamilton girls 13, Ooltewah 6: The Lady Hurricanes grabbed a 7-2 advantage and cruised to the win. Danielle Newton had four points, all on one play with 3:47 remaining. Leondra Barrett, Kaitlyn Kennedy and Kiarra Young each had two for the Lady Owls.

• Tyner girls 20, Notre Dame 10: The speedy Lady Rams scored the jamboree's first seven points and ran past the Lady Irish. Dekeshia Parks had five points; Treketta Bonds had four. Kylie Gange, Morgan Cantrell and Allyson Ross each had a 3-pointer for Notre Dame.
