SODDY-DAISY TROJANS
Coach: Kevin Orr (16-16 in his three seasons here)
Stadium address: 618 Sequoyah Access Road, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379
RECENT HISTORY
Soddy-Daisy went 4-6 last year and missed the playoffs for the fifth time in the past seven seasons. Here's a look at the regular-season win totals for the last five years:
Season 1 5 10
2011 ----(4)
2010 ------(6)
2009 -----(5)
2008 -------(7)
2007 --(2)
THREE STRENGTHS
1) The Trojans have only 11 seniors, but most of their underclassmen have contributed in the past season or two and will be relied on heavily.
2) The team lost Cedric Edwards, who rushed for 3,500 yards his last two seasons, but still feel good about the running game, which might be deeper this season led by Tyler Dixon and Caleb Jordan.
3) Entering his third season as a starter, kicker Luke Underwood will be counted upon to keep opposing teams from good starting field position.
THREE CONCERNS
1) Soddy-Daisy has never been the fastest team on the field, and this year won't be different. Who will be counted upon to provide game-breaking ability?
2) The defense returns just four starters and was ineffective at times as a unit last season. Who will step up and make stopping impacts?
3) Three of the Trojans' top four receivers in receptions are gone. What names pop up this year?
THREE QUESTIONS WITH BRETT STANDIFER
(Junior quarterback)
Q: How would you say your first year as starting quarterback went?
A: I guess it went as expected, with me being a young guy. I didn't know as much as I know now, but being able to hand off to Cedric Edwards helped a bit.
Q: What does his loss mean?
A: We're going to open up some more variety. We'll have to scheme more, watch more film and see what everybody does.
Q: How do you prepare to have a bigger role this season?
A: We'll all have bigger roles this season. Last year, when we didn't know what to do, we always had Cedric. You can't have one man carry the team. We had two last year with Cedric and Jake Ables, and we didn't have a winning record. It showed how important we all were on every play.
