Heritage and Gordon Lee will be taking 10 wrestlers each to the GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championships next weekend in Duluth after completing successful sectional tournaments Saturday.
Heritage sent six wrestlers into the championship round and earned 3-AAA sectional titles from Madison Martin, Landon Reed Andy Bratton and Jacob Tripp. James Voorhees, Michael Moore, Logan Perkins, Austin Frye and Michael Shepard also finished in their respective weights' top eight.
Rival Gilmer County, which had two champions, will be taking nine to the state while upstart Carrollton will be taking 10.
"I'm very proud of our kids, especially with the way they worked hard to prepare for this tournament," Heritage coach Kenny Hill said. "Now we hope that hard work pays off next week at the state."
LaFayette, headlined by 152-pound champion Brady Hart, will be taking five to state, with Southeast Whitfield qualifying four and Ringgold three.

Defending champion Bremen qualified nine wrestlers, while duals champion Holy Innocents' is taking a tournament-best 12 to the state.

At the 3-AA west sectional, Calhoun, Sonoraville and surprising Gordon Central qualified five wrestlers each. Among Calhoun's qualifiers was Donnell Anthony, who won the title at 138. Sonoraville's Layson West was the 145-pound champion, while Chattooga's Brandon Stiffles, already a two-time state champ, was the 152-pound titlist.
