The final putt of Mikey Feher's high school golf career elicited an eruption of celebration from his Baylor teammates.

The roll secured Baylor's victory in the Division II-AA Tennessee state tournament.

"I wasn't sure we were going to win," Feher said. "Then everyone was going crazy, and that was a great feeling to win state even though it seemed impossible at the beginning of the year."

Feher, who tied for sixth individually, will continue competing for school team championships. He gave a verbal commitment to play for Lipscomb University in Nashville.

"I really felt welcomed there, and it sounds like they want to make the program better," Feher said. "I wanted to go somewhere where I can get better at golf and have a coach work with me and develop a relationship."

Feher has aspirations of following in the footsteps of former Baylor golfers Harris English and Luke List to the PGA Tour. Yet he knows professional golf may not be the way he makes a living in the long run.

"I'm not leaning like it's my priority, but if I can go pro I'll give it a try," Feher said. "But school is a top priority."

Feher won the City Prep Championship in a playoff and tied for fourth in the Baylor Preview at Black Creek Club when he shot a 3-under 69.

"I think Lipscomb is getting a good player," Baylor coach Gary Partrick said. "He's consistent. Every time he handed me a scorecard it was between 68 and 74. Mikey is somebody that you can hang your hat on that is going to help your team every day.

"And I think he likes the stage. I think he's a clutch player."
