There were two blastings at Black Creek Club on Wednesday.

A dynamite explosion cleared room on the Mountain about 1,000 yards southwest of the 13th green sending smoke and debris several hundred feet into the air.

Then McCallie blasted Baylor 10.5 points to 1.5 points in their annual match play tournament later in the perfect autumn afternoon.

"We haven't had a day like this all year," Baylor coach Gary Partrick said. "I guess match play ain't our thing."

The head-to-head match between rivals allowed both schools to include junior varsity players and enjoy a friendly match before Division II playoffs begin Monday with the East/Middle Region at Tims Ford.

"To me, I think it's about depth and that's where we came up huge," Meyers said. "We won 6.5 points individually and all four of the team points. I'm proud of the way we played."

The Blue Tornado won all three points of the featured foursome. Andrew Weathers defeated Mikey Feher 3 and 2, Gordon Hulgan rallied from 3 down with five to play in order to beat Blake Maum 1-up, and the Weathers-Hulgan team beat Feher-Maum 2-up in four-ball scoring.

"I think the score doesn't really indicate how close it was," Meyers said. "Every individual match went to at least the 16th hole."

All four of the golfers in the final group have a future playing college golf on NCAA Division I teams. Meyers and Partrick figured another four have a decent shot of earning Division I scholarships. No other head-to-head match in the city this season held so much talent.

"Baylor has a lot of good payers on their team and so do we," Weathers said. "I thought it would be a closer match than it ended up being."

McCallie earned full points from Patrick McDonald, Tucker Snipes, Luke Hamilton and Crawford Colett. Nic Vandeventer earned the lone full point for Baylor by defeating Case White 2 up.

"It tells us that we really need to pick up our game," Feher said. "We had a mindset that we were better than everyone, but we need to get back to work."
