Tennessee football playoff brackets for 2013 will be released on the Saturday following the final Week 10 games, as has been the TSSAA's past policy. However, a change has been put in place regarding possible errors.

Schools will have only until 4 p.m. that day to appeal perceived errors to the state office. The appeal must include the nature of the suspected mistake. If no appeals are turned in, then the brackets will become final at 4 EST. If an appeal is made before that, then the brackets for that class will be reviewed and any necessary corrections will be made before they are declared final.

In the event of a tie for a league championship, second place or another qualifying spot, all opponents' varsity games played through TSSAA Week 10 will be counted. Should two teams play each other twice, only the first game will be counted in district/region standings or will be considered in the event of a tie in the district/region to determine which team will advance to the playoff series.

Any team ineligible to participate in the playoff series will not figure in a tie for a district/region championship.

The board of control also decided to increase the officiating crews during the last three rounds of the playoffs from five members to seven. That cost will be paid for from the percentage of gate receipts received by the TSSAA.

Hurricane Invitational

East Hamilton is hosting an eight-team wrestling tournament Saturday with a unique twist. The teams will be divided into four-team pools, scoring points just as they would in a dual meet.

However, the top two wrestlers in each pool weight class will then advance to a semifinal round with the winners battling for the championship.

Coach Ryan Cooper of the host Hurricanes said the tournament will begin around 10:30 a.m. and that he hopes to start the finals close to 4 p.m.

Teams in the event are Ridgeland, Dalton, Ooltewah, East Ridge, Tyner, Chattanooga Christian, Brainerd and the hosts. Admission is $5 per person.
