Twelve local players were selected to the Tennessee coaches' all-state boys' soccer teams announced Thursday.
East Hamilton and Ooltewah had three all-state players apiece. Notre Dame and Baylor each had two, while McCallie and Chattanooga Christian had the others.
East Hamilton reached the Class A/AA state quarterfinals in the Hurricanes' last season before moving up to AAA. Their all-staters were senior forward Jalen Goddard, who will play collegiately for Carson-Newman; sophomore midfielder Jose Orellana, the District 6-A/AA player of the year; and senior midfielder Kyle Gallups.
Junior forward Trey Tucker, sophomore midfielder Luedy Franco and senior defender Alex Crowe were AAA all-state selections from Ooltewah, which was shocked in the District 5 semifinals. Tucker was the district and region player of the year, while Crowe was the defensive most valuable player.
Baylor sophomore forward Kyle Johnston and senior midfielder Ramsey Seagle made the Division II-AA all-state team, as did McCallie defender Marek Stout. Notre Dame was represented by senior midfielder Baggio Card and junior midfielder Tyler Robertson on the A/AA team, while CCS freshman Josh Brower earned the honor in what will be his only season playing locally.
Brower will be following his father, who was his head coach, to a private school in Jupiter, Fla., where Shawn Brower will be the headmaster and head soccer coach.
