York heroics ruin Notre Dame's upset bid

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Notre Dame kept Connor York out of the end zone most of the night.

But with Upperman's season slipping away, the Bees quarterback broke free on a 71-yard run up the middle with 3:21 left for the go-ahead touchdown in a 19-10 win over Notre Dame in a Class 3A quarterfinal Friday night at Tennessee Tech's Tucker Stadium.

York's 70th touchdown of the year gave the Bees (13-0) a 13-10 lead and the state single-season record for most rushing and passing TDs. Christian Academy of Knoxville's Charlie High held the old record with 69 in 2011.
