Signal Mountain junior Taelor Kellum has accepted a scholarship offer to play volleyball at the University of Florida.
Kellum, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker, visited the Gainesville campus over the summer when she attended a volleyball camp there.
"I loved the campus, the players, the atmosphere," Kellum said. "They were great."
Kellum has had interest from other NCAA Division I schools, including Tennessee, Auburn and Butler.
Signal Mountain coach Jennifer Redman said Kellum had a big growth spurt while she was in middle school. By the time Kellum got to high school, Redman said she began seeing signs that she could become a Division I recruit. The coach added that it has all come together for her this season.
"She's really stepped it up," Redman said. "In my opinion she's a completely different player than in years past. I named her a team captain just because of my faith in her. Her blocking and passing have been more consistent this year. And she's been better at hitting around blocks."
Kellum said the trip to Florida over the summer did wonders.
"When I went to camp down there, I learned a few things and brought them back with me," Kellum said.
