Several playoff positions are still up for grabs in northwest Georgia as the regular season ends this week.

Region 7-AAAA will hold its annual tournament, which consists of three best-of-three series beginning with Wednesday doubleheaders. Subregion winners Northwest Whitfield and Cedartown will square off in Cedartown, with the winner earning the top playoff seed and the loser the No. 2 berth. Dalton travels to River Ridge and Heritage hosts Cass to decide the final two spots.

Region 5-AAA has decided its four playoff teams, but seeding could get messy if Cartersville loses to North Murray today. The Purple Hurricanes will earn the title with a win, with Ringgold second, Sonoraville third and North Murray fourth.

In Region 7-AA, five teams are vying for the four spots, led by Calhoun at 9-3 in league play. Dade County (7-5) hosts Coosa (8-4) in a make-or-break game tonight for the Wolverines, who defeated Coosa earlier this season. Model (8-4) and Pepperell (7-4) also are in the running.
