Hamilton Heights School announced Tuesday that its 6-foot-11 junior center, Abdulhakim Ado, has been selected to participate in the Nike Global Challenge being held Aug. 13-16 in Chicago.

Ado, whose meteoric rise currently has him as the No. 1 center in the 2016 class according to 247Sports.com, will play for Africa in the eight-team, three-day competition.

He will play in the Reebok All-Star Tournament at Rucker Park in New York City this weekend and recently played in the Adidas Nations Tournament in Los Angeles as a member of the Georgia Stars' AAU program.

"He has worked extremely hard this summer and has played on one of the biggest stages that there is," Hamilton Heights headmaster Duke Stone said. "It's been interesting watching this process, and what all goes on when you have this type of player."

Ado, who averaged 9.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 7.3 blocked shots last season for the Hawks, currently has scholarship offers from Louisville, Memphis, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Penn State and Arizona State, and interest from Connecticut, Texas and Florida. He was an unranked prospect until after the season ended but is now the No. 7 player overall in the 2016 class.

"He told me recently that he was 'tired to his feet,'" Stone said. "I think he's ready to get back to school, but we're going to have him take some time off before getting back with the rest of the guys.

"I think he'll be looking forward to getting back to a normal schedule."
