Levi Woods leads Meigs to Region 2-A title

Levi Woods was the only player who scored in double figures for Meigs County in Thursday's Region 2-A championship game at Wartburg, but the Tigers still overcame Grace Christian of Knoxville, 46-40.

Meigs County (29-4) will host South Greene on Monday in a state sectional.

The Tigers outscored Grace Christian 15-4 in the fourth quarter, overcoming the Knoxville team's slowdown tactics with the lead. Once Meigs went ahead 41-40, Woods missed the front end of a one-and-one free-throw set with 11 seconds left, but Matthew Meadows rebounded it, made the putback and added a free throw.

Woods was voted region most valuable player, and Meadows, Zy Moore and Bryson Baker joined him on the all-tournament team.
