After two area high school boys' basketball teams earned spots in the state tournament with wins Monday night, four others hope tonight to join them in Murfreesboro. Inclement weather postponed those four games, along with every other boys' state sectional, forcing teams to wait one day before taking the court.

Boyd-Buchanan and Meigs County both qualified for the Class A state tourney Monday, and tonight Sale Creek looks to join them when it travels to Goodpasture. Meanwhile in the AA sectional round, Tyner hosts Livingston Academy and Brainerd travels to Upperman, and in AAA Walker Valley is at Murfreesboro Siegel.

More than an inch of ice fell on areas of the midstate Monday morning, leaving TSSAA officials to advise teams to move back games by one day. Aside from Boyd-Buchanan and Meigs County each hosting a game, every other game across the state was delayed.

"The weather in the midstate was just too bad to take a chance on teams traveling to or from that area," said Tyner coach Gerald Harris, whose team has been eliminated by Livingston Academy each of the last two times they've met in the sectional round.

The boys' state tournament tips off next Wendesday at Middle Tennessee State University's Murphy Center and runs through Saturday's three championship games for public schools.
