Chattanooga Christian School made a smooth transition in its boys' basketball program by naming former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga assistant David Conrady as its new head coach. That move came on the same day that Jim Arnold announced he was resigning as basketball coach to focus attention on his role as the middle school principal.

Arnold had led the Chargers' program for seven years, taking them to the region tournament five times and twice being named District 7-AA coach of the year. He had worked as the junior varsity coach two years before taking over the varsity program.

In a press release, the CCS administration said, "Coach Conrady's coaching experience and passion to disciple his players through basketball make him a great fit for CCS. We look forward to his leadership within the entire basketball program."

Conrady most recently had worked as the national basketball director for SCORE International, a sports-based Christian mission organization. Before that, he spent 23 years coaching at the collegiate level, including six seasons with UTC, where he was the associate head coach. While he was with the Mocs, they won three Southern Conference North Division championships and made two NCAA tournament appearances.

He also has been a head coach at North Greenville University and Newberry College and helped each team he coached reach the national tournament at its level of competition.

"I could not be more excited to be able to lead the CCS boys' basketball team," Conrady said. "This is a perfect fit for my ministry. I am excited to be able to teach a game I love and teach the biblical life lessons found in sport. CCS is a special place."
