Former Baylor School linebacker David Helton is among players named to the 2014 Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced this week.

The award honors the top defensive player in college football who makes the biggest impact on his team on and off the field.

Starting all 14 games for Duke last season, Helton led the Atlantic Coast Conference in tackles with 133. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound linebacker recorded at least seven tackles in each game with a career-high 19 in the Blue Devils' 13-6 win at No. 16 Virginia. He also had nine solo tackles and two assists in the 52-48 Chick-fil-A Bowl loss to Texas A&M.

The winner will be announced at the organization's annual banquet on Dec. 14 in Newport Beach, Calif.

Other players on the list include Alabama safety Landon Collins, Kentucky end Alvin Dupree, Tennessee linebacker A.J. Johnson, LSU cornerback Jaylen Mills, Auburn cornerback Jonathon Mincy, Florida linebacker Vernon Hergreaves, Ole Miss linebacker Deterrian Shackleford and Georgia linebacker Ramik Wilson.
