Georgia College signs Isaac Thomas

Isaac Thomas, a 2014 Trion High School graduate, signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for Georgia College in Milledgeville this week.

Thomas, a Best of Preps all-star his senior season after averaging 14 points and 13 rebounds for the 22-4 Bulldogs, attended Moravian Prep School in Hudson, N.C., this year. At Moravian, Thomas was part of the 2014 National Prep School national champions.

"We're very proud of Isaac and we feel Georgia College is a great fit for him," said Lanny Thomas, Isaac's father and his coach at Trion.

Baylor No. 4

Baylor is the highest ranked Chattanooga-area team in the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association state poll released Thursday. The Red Raiders are No. 4 in Division II-AA, one notch ahead of McCallie.

In Class A, Meigs County is sixth, Boyd-Buchanan seventh and South Pittsburg ninth. No local Class AAA or Class AA teams cracked the top 10.

The state's top-ranked teams are Farragut (AAA), Christian Academy of Knoxville (AA), Jackson Christian (A), Christian Brothers (DII-AA) and Knoxville Webb (DII-A).
