Patriots' season ends in Class A sectional

CELINA, Tenn. -- The Arts & Sciences boys' basketball team from Chattanooga ended its season with a 54-47 loss in the Class A state sectional round Tuesday night at Clay County High School.

The CSAS Patriots held their own early, grabbing an 8-7 lead midway through the first quarter, but the advantage was short-lived and the only one of the night for the visitors.

The Bulldogs outscored CSAS 32-23 in the first half. Despite a late fourth-quarter comeback from the Patriots, the home team chewed the clock and sank enough bonus free throws to hold on for the win and advance to next week's state tournament in Murfreesboro.

Clay County sophomore and District 7-A most valuable player Tyreke Key proved to be too much for the Patriots with his game-high 22 points. Miguel Hamilton led CSAS with 14 points, and Shunn Moorer added 13.
