Baylor, Pope John Paul II try it again today

The best-laid plans went awry. Again.

Baylor's state-quarterfinal-series baseball game against Pope John Paul II, scheduled to start at 9 Saturday night, was postponed after showers swept up the river and peppered the Red Raiders' campus steadily for at least 45 minutes.

Plans are for the first game of a possible doubleheader to start at 1 p.m., weather permitting. PJP II won the first game of the Division II-AA best-two-of-three series Friday.

That game had been scheduled to start at 6 p.m. because of PJP students' AP exams but didn't get started until about 7:30 due to the weather. Then PJP had graduation ceremonies Saturday afternoon.

The winner of the series advances to the DII state tournament, which is to begin Tuesday at Wilson Central High near Murfreesboro.
