Spring Fling baseball: 3 in losers-bracket, one headed home

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Chattanooga area baseball teams struck out here Wednesday in the Spring Fling.

While Boyd-Buchanan, which hit the losers' bracket Tuesday, won its first game Wednesday in Class A, Soddy-Daisy in Class AAA and McCallie in Division II-AA, hit the losers' bracket in early Tuesday afternoon games. East Hamilton suffered its second loss in the AAA tournament and was headed for home.

Boyd-Buchanan bested Huntingdon 8-2 behind two home runs from Austin Jackson and a masterful pitching performance from Josh Antwine.

Soddy-Daisy and McCallie, which fell respectively to Hardin Valley (6-1) and Christian Brothers (3-2) were scheduled to play again at 6 p.m. tonight. Soddy-Daisy meets Memphis Bartlett while McCallie faces Briarcrest, a tournament-opening Tornado victim on Tuesday.
