MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Baylor won their fourth Division II-AA state softball championship in the past five years on Friday.

The Lady Raiders defeated cross-town rival Girls Preparatory School 6-4 at the StarPlex Complex and avenged their loss to GPS in the finals one year ago.

Kayla Hughes recovered from allowing the first three GPS batters to score on a homerun by Haley Smith and earned the win.

Senior Lauren Lewis delivered a homerun in the bottom of the first. Kamrie Rich scored two with a single. Mari Gardner hit her first homerun of the year and Cheyenne Lindsay delivered the final Baylor run.
