Hamilton Heights senior Abdulhakim Ado announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Monday evening after a scrimmage at McCallie.

The 6-foot-11 Ado chose the Bulldogs over Auburn, LSU and Penn State. He becomes the fifth four-star prospect of head coach Ben Howland's first full recruiting class for the Bulldogs, which helps solidify them in the top 10 of most 2016 recruiting rankings.

Ado is the Chattanooga area's top-rated prep basketball prospect and also had offers from Oregon, Georgia, Louisville, Memphis, Tennessee, UNLV and Vanderbilt. He averaged 9.9 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.9 blocks a game for the Hawks last season.

"He really fell in love with the coaching staff there, and I think it will be a great fit for him," Hawks coach Zach Ferrell said. "He's one of the most dominant defensive big men I've ever seen, so he's got a great future ahead of him. We're very proud for him."
