Tennessee Christian Prep suspends football program

Cleveland-based Tennessee Christian Prep has pulled the plug, at least temporarily, on its fledgling football program.

The Hawks had approximately 25 players during 7-on-7 drills in July but that number has dropped steadily and the number had fallen to no more than 15.

Coach Toby McKenzie called coaches for all of his team's 2016 opponents earlier today. It's a group that includes Boyd-Buchanan, Sale Creek, Grace Baptist Academy, Copper Basin and Lookout Valley.

Although all of those coaches had not yet responded to messages from the Times Free Press, it's likely that each will receive a forfeit win.
