It was a working weekend for Lindell Wigginton, but one that certainly paid off.

The Oak Hill Academy junior, who was already being recruited by 17 college programs, will likely add a few more after his two-day performance in the Dr Pepper TEN Classic at McCallie.

Wigginton won both the dunk contest and 3-point shooting contest and led his team from Mouth of Wilson, Va., ranked No. 2 nationally, in scoring in each of their two wins, including Saturday night's impressive 64-47 victory over No. 25 Hamilton Heights.

"I wanted to come out and put on a show for the fans and help my team get a couple of wins, and I felt like I had a great weekend doing that," said Wigginton, who won the dunk contest on Friday afternoon, scored 22 that night in an 89-59 win over McCallie, then won the 3-point contest just minutes before tipoff against Hamilton Heights.

He finished with a game-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers, against the Hawks.

"I think the 3-point contest actually got my legs warmed up," Wigginton said. "I felt good, especially in the first half, and my teammates were doing a great job of getting me open looks. That was the key."

Wigginton scored 18 points, including all of his 3s and a pair of dunks, in the first half.

The Warriors (33-1) trailed for just 29 seconds of the first quarter, but after falling behind, they quickly answered with a 9-0 run to end the period and maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way.

"They did a really good job of keeping us off balance by switching from zone to man defense," Hawks coach Zach Ferrell said. "Our guys are incredibly hurt with how we played, because we felt like we could win. Oak Hill has been the standard in high school basketball for a long time. This will fuel us the rest of the season."

The Hawks (22-3) used a 9-2 run midway through the third quarter to get within six, but that was as close as they came. Oak Hill answered with seven straight points and twice held Hamilton Heights without a field goal for stretches of more than five minutes.

"They're a good team, with a lot of really good young talent," Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said. "But I thought we played pretty well in spurts defensively, and Lindell had a great all-around weekend. I wish he could make 3-pointers in more games the way he did in that contest. He's worked really hard for us."
