Walker Malone's no-hitter sends Meigs County to state tournament

Walker Malone pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks to lead Meigs County into its first state baseball tournament since 2003.

Malone, who had two no-hitters in the 2015 season, got his first one of 2016 in a Class A sectional Friday as the Tigers won 2-0 at South Greene.

That raised his record to 9-2 and sends Meigs County (23-10) to the TSSAA Spring Fling next week.

Matthew Crabtree had an RBI double and Hunter Burke was 1-for-2 and scored a run for the Tigers.

* Baylor 7-3, Christian Brothers 4-6: At Memphis, Baylor beat the 32-5 Purple Wave in the first game of the Division II-AA best-of-three series and will play today at 2 p.m. EDT for a spot in the state tournament.

The Red Raiders (16-20) scored six runs in the first three innings Friday and held on to get a pitching win for Wilson Maclellan. Teddy Lepcio drove in three runs and Keaton Baker was 2-for-2 with two RBIs in the win for Baylor, while Tate Prater was 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Gehrig Ebel was 2-for-2 with two RBIs in the second-game loss.
