HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - Baylor's four-point lead looked tenuous at best entering the fourth quarter of Friday's Division II-AA playoff opener, but the Red Raiders pulled away by going to the air.

Baylor outscored host Pope John Paul II 21-10 in the final 12 minutes to secure a 35-20 victory over the Knights, avenging a regular-season loss.

"Our defense played excellent," Baylor coach Phil Massey said. "Our defensive coaches had our kids prepared, and our secondary did a good job."
