NASHVILLE - Sparked by an early 87-yard touchdown run by Nicky Clifton, Ensworth downed McCallie 42-28 Friday night in a wild Division II-AA East-Middle Region game in which the teams combined for more than 950 yards of total offense.
Robert Riddle completed 33 of 55 passes for 392 yards and a touchdown to lead McCallie (5-3, 2-2), which compiled 507 yards of total offense. Walker Fannon had 13 catches for 147 yards and Kendall Watson added 11 catches for 136 yards.
Clifton totaled 228 yards on 28 carries and scored two touchdowns for Ensworth (5-3, 2-2), which built a 35-14 lead early in the second half, then held off McCallie's comeback bid.
