KNOXVILLE - Friday night was both a record-setting and a painful night for Christian Academy of Knoxville quarterback Cole Smith. The Warrior senior broke the state passing record in a 42-27 win over McMinn Central before exiting for precautionary reasons with a sore shoulder in the third quarter.

"It was just a little sore," Smith said after the Region 2-3A win. "I'll be good. We've got a little bye week to rest up on it. Nothing but soreness."

Smith completed 12 of 20 passes for 174 yards and four touchdowns before leaving the game, giving him 11,032 yards for his career. That surpasses the mark of 10,978 yards set by CAK quarterback Charlie High in 2012.
