CCS rolls; Notre Dame, McMinn County fall in state soccer

The three-team contingent of Chattanooga-area girls in the state soccer tournament has been reduced to one following quarterfinal play Wednesday in Murfreesboro.

Chattanooga Christian advanced with a 3-0 win in Class A/AA, but Notre Dame lost 3-0 to defending A/AA champion Greeneville.

CCS will play Christ Presbyterian at 7:30 EDT tonight at the Richard Siegel complex.

CPA (19-4-2) defeated Christian Academy of Knoxville 1-0 on a Sarah Sievertsen goal in the 29th minute. CPA and CCS met last year with CCS advancing to the championship match with an overtime win.

Kyra Duble, Addie Henry and Olivia Hoffman scored first-half goals for the Lady Chargers, who improved to 16-6-1. Getting assists were Kyla Wright and Duble.

McMinn County's first state-tournament quest was cut short by defending AAA champion and unbeaten Houston, 6-1.

Morgan Hutchinson scored the goal for the Lady Cherokees, who were down just 2-0 following the first period. Houston (18-0-2) advanced to a semifinal today against Franklin, a 4-0 winner over Tennessee High.

Greeneville (24-1) scored all three of its goals against Notre Dame in the first 40 minutes. Keeper Lauren Teal had six saves for the Lady Irish (11-13-1).
