Baylor wins boys' and combined state swimming titles

Baylor School blew the rest of the TISCA swimming and diving teams out of the water in the state championship meet this weekend at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center in Knoxville.

Baylor won the combined scoring with 584 points compared to 308 for second-place Memphis University School, with girls' champion Harpeth Hall third at 298. Baylor also won the boys' title, capped by a first-place 400-yard freestyle relay from Trey Freeman, Zach Althoff, Peter Lochmaier and Jack Kirby in the last event of the meet Saturday night.

McCallie was fifth in the 400 free relay.

As the evening began, Baylor's Matthew Boyer and Gershwin Greene were third and fourth in the 100 free, Freeman and Lochmaier were first and second with McCallie's Max Ransom sixth in the 500 free and Baylor's Freeman, Greene, Boyer and Jack Best won the 200 free relay with McCallie fifth.

Althoff was third and Kirby sixth in the 100 backstroke, and Luke Massey representing Chattanooga Area Homeschoolers was fourth with Baylor's Luis Sebastian Weekes and Boyer sixth and seventh in the 100 breaststroke.

Baylor was second in the girls' 200 free relay with Avery Wilson, Addison Smith, Jamee Mitchum and Jewel Gordon, and Elodie Nix and Sarah Miller were fourth and fifth in 1-meter diving. Grayson Payne from the homeschool team was fourth in the 100 back, and Cecilia Porter from Signal Mountain was fifth in the 100 breast.

Baylor was seventh and Girls Preparatory School eighth in the 400 free relay.
