Josh Roberts has been hired as the replacement for Ty Wise as Signal Mountain football coach.

Roberts was offensive coordinator on the staff last year and had previously served as Signal's Middle School coach.

"We could not be more excited to name Josh as our football coach," school principal Todd Stinson said this morning.

Stinson, himself a former football coach, and Bumper Reese, now the school's athletic director and another former coach, sifted through more than 100 applications from nine states before interviewing more than a half-dozen candidates. That list included several prominent coaches in the Chattanooga area.

"When we set out to fill this position, we were looking for a passionate coach who had the vision and commitment to take our program to the next level, while also fostering strong relationships with students, athletes and parents," Stinson said.
