Chattanooga area teams to play in Tennessee wrestling championships

Pairings have been set in each of the respective classifications for the Tennessee state duals wrestling championships Friday and Saturday in Franklin, Tenn.

Chattanooga area teams competing in the tournament include defending champion Bradley Central and Cleveland in Class AAA, Hixson and Notre Dame in Class A/AA and Baylor and McCallie in Division II-AA. Class AAA is a 16-team format and Class A/AA and Division II-AA are eight-team brackets.

In AAA, Bradley opens against Knox Halls and Cleveland against Maryville. Hixson begins with Greeneville and Notre Dame vs. Stratford. Baylor drew Memphis University School while McCallie's first match will be against Brentwood Academy.

Cleveland is ranked No. 1 in the latest coaches poll, three points better than Bradley Central. Baylor is No. 4 and McCallie No. 6.

The duals this weekend and the traditional state tournament Feb. 16-18 will be held at the Williamson County Agricultural Expo.
