WATCH: McCallie heart transplant survivor makes return in performance at school talent show

After receiving a heart transplant in November, Will Hunt is back and he's doing much better.

Hunt earned national media attention when a video he made singing with his dad in the hospital went viral and was tweeted by Adam Levine. Hunt had been fighting for his life for months before the heart transplant.

Because of the procedure he underwent, Hunt hasn't returned to school yet because of his suppressed immune system, but he made a surprise appearance Sunday at the "GPS/McCallie Got Talent."

At the end of the contest Will and GPS senior Tia Kemp performed "Rise Up" by Audra Day. The performance was a surprise and it was also the first time Hunt has been able to be out in public since his illness began in early 2016. The crowd erupted in cheers when the light shined on Hunt as he began his duet with Kemp.

Still, Hunt had to leave and return home as soon as he finished the song to avoid too much contact with others.
