MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - If Meigs County is going to repeat as TSSAA Class A state softball champion, the Lady Tigers are going to have to do it from the losers bracket.

Forrest had a couple of key hits in the fourth inning late Wednesday at Starplex No. 4 and aided by a throwing error scored enough to hold on for a 2-1 win.

Forrest (40-4) advances to today's winners-bracket final scheduled at 6:30 p.m. EDT against Summertown (34-8).

Meigs (36-3) must make a quick turnaround and play again this morning at against Scotts Hill (32-6). Should the Lady Tigers win that one, they would play again at 5.

Katlin Leverette started the uprising with a single, then a throwaway on a bunt left runners on the corners. After the runner on first took second, Carson Warner's groundout made it 1-0 and moved the other runner to third. After a popout, Laura Mealer delivered a run-scoring single.

The Lady Tigers' run came on Alyson Crowder's home run with one out in the seventh.

Meigs got six hits off winning pitcher Sam King, who walked one and struck out four.

Ashley Rogers, who took the loss, did not allow a walk and totaled 10 strikeouts.
