MARYVILLE REBELS (6-1, 3-0) at OOLTEWAH OWLS (4-3, 2-1)
Storyline: It's a key game and one that will be televised in the Knoxville area, and the kickoff time for this Region 2-6A matchup has been moved to 7 p.m. In addition to its loss by a field goal to top-ranked Oakland in Murfreesboro, Maryville has had two close calls this season. The Rebels rallied to beat Knoxville Catholic 49-42 and held on for a 28-24 victory over neighbor Alcoa, Class 3A's top-ranked team. Both Maryville and Ooltewah handled William Blount and McMinn County with ease this year, the Owls 40-7 last week, but Ooltewah, which has struggled all season with injuries, may have lost a pair of key defenders while beating the Cherokees. The Owls still have a solid offense with the likes of QB Kyrell Sanford and WR Andrew Manning, and they could receive a significant boost if RB Sincere Quinn is able to follow through on plans to return from an ankle injury.
SEQUOYAH CHIEFS (4-4, 2-2) at EAST RIDGE PIONEERS (5-2, 1-2)
Storyline: Although East Ridge has the better overall record, the Chiefs are a game ahead of the Pioneers in the Region 2-4A standings. So this one is significant to both — Sequoyah has a date next week with unbeaten Anderson County, one of the state's highest-scoring teams, while East Ridge needs desperately to bolster its postseason hopes after back-to-back lopsided losses to region leaders Anderson County and Central. Those losses came on the heels of a five-win streak to open the season. Balance is key for the Pioneers, but success in the passing game could be pivotal if they're going to be able to run. Watch for QB Eric Bennett and WRs Alonzo Russell, Kashawn Cosey and Tre Alexander, along with RB Lorenzo Stewart.
