Lookouts lose series finale at Jackson

Jackson won the series finale Sunday with a 5-4 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts, but not before both teams combined for six errors and three wild pitches.

Chattanooga (8-3) took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Wilberto Ortiz scored on a wild pitch and Alfredo Silverio scored on a throwing error. But Rich Poythress had a two-run single to right in the bottom of the third, with both of those who scored getting on base via errors.

A passed ball and a throwing error by the Lookouts in the fourth inning helped Jackson score three runs and take a 5-2 lead.

Chattanooga pulled within 5-4 in the eighth inning on a home run to left by catcher Gorman Erickson, who joined the team Sunday, but the Lookouts couldn't capitalize in the ninth when a Jackson error put Lookouts on second and third with two out.

Game one of a four-game series against Huntsville at AT&T Field is tonight at 6:15, and it will be followed by fireworks.

Both teams are scheduled to make game-day decisions on their starters.
