A four-run sixth inning put the Carolina Mudcats ahead and held up for a 7-6 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts in Saturday night's Southern League baseball game at AT&T Field.
The Mudcats did all their sixth-inning damage after two strikeouts by Lookouts starting pitcher Chris Withrow. Jose Castro singled, Kevin Coddington doubled and, after Wilkin De La Rosa came in to pitch, pinch-hitter David Cook walked ahead of Quintin Berry's single, a balk call leading to the ejection of Chattanooga manager Carlos Subero and a Jake Kahaulelio walk.
Josh Wall then relieved De La Rosa (0-1), and Eric Campbell doubled in Cook and Berry with Kahaulelio being thrown out at home.
Coddington was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Denis Phipps was 3-for-5 and Castro was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Carolina. Berry scored twice and drove in a run.
Kyle Russell was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Corey Smith also homered for Chattanooga, and Alfredo Silverio was 2-for-3 with a double and a run while Hector Gimenez was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
