HOOVER, Ala. - Starting pitcher Matt Magill took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Chattanooga Lookouts edged closer to the Southern League's North Division second-half championship with a 4-2 win Thursday night against the Birmingham Barons.

Magill gave up Jose Martinez's single and Erik Morrison's two-run homer in the seventh, but the three-time Southern League pitcher of the week in 2012 left with seven strikeouts.

The Lookouts drew four walks in the first inning in taking a 1-0 lead, and they stretched their advantage to 3-0 in the fifth on RBI singles by Luis Nunez and J.T. Wise. A home run to left field by Brahiam Maldonado in the sixth put Chattanooga up 4-0.

Game two of the series is tonight at 8:05 EDT. Chris Reed (0-3, 4.41 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Simon Castro (6-3, 3.52) scheduled for the Barons.
