Stars build lead, hold off Lookouts

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Huntsville Stars began their Southern League baseball series against the Chattanooga Lookouts with a 4-3 victory Monday night.

Anderson De La Rosa homered in the fifth inning and had an RBI single in the sixth to lead Huntsville. The Stars scored twice in the seventh to build a 4-1 lead and held on in the ninth when the Lookouts (11-15) scored on a Travis Denker homer and a Griff Erickson RBI single.

Jake Lemmerman homered in the first inning to put Chattanooga up 1-0, and Lookouts starting pitcher Chris Withrow pitched a shutout until De La Rosa opened the fifth.

Game two of the five-game series is tonight at 7:43 EDT. Nathan Eovaldi (0-0, 2.08 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Tyler Thornburg (2-0, 1.93) scheduled for the Stars.

Eovaldi was activated before Tuesday's game after being sent down from Los Angeles. He replaced outfielder Brian Cavazos-Galvez, who was sent down to high Single-A Rancho Cucamonga following a first month in which he hit just .167.
