Smokies hand Lookouts first road loss

Joc Pederson homered, Yasiel Puig tripled and Andres Santiago allowed just four hits in six innings, but that wasn't enough as Chattanooga lost 2-1 to the Tennessee Smokies on Friday for the Lookouts' first road game.

After the Lookouts (3-5) couldn't capitalize on Puig's triple in the first inning, Tennessee scored when Jae-Hoon Ha's one-out single to center scored Matt Szczur, who had led off with a walk.

The Smokies made it 2-0 in the second inning when Szczur's one-out single to right scored Rubi Silva, who had led off with an infield hit. The Lookouts got within a run in the third on Pederson's homer to right.

Game four of a five-game series at Tennessee is tonight at 6:15.

Rob Rasmussen (0-1, 3.38) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Kyle Hendricks (0-1, 9.00) scheduled for the Smokies.

Catcher Matt Wallach, who hit .232 in 59 games with the Lookouts last season, returned to Chattanooga on Friday from Triple-A Albuquerque. Catcher Deshenko Ricardo was sent down to Single-A Great Lakes in the Midwest League.
