Mississippi Braves beat Chattanooga Lookouts 7-3

PEARL, Miss. - The Mississippi Braves jumped on the visiting Chattanooga Lookouts and won 7-3 in Southern League baseball Thursday night.

Angelo Songco's two-out double to center field in the first inning scored Rafael Ynoa to put Chattanooga up 1-0, but it went downhill quickly for the Lookouts. Mississippi tied the game later in the first and took a 3-1 lead in the second inning on RBIs by Mycal Jones and Michael Lee.

The Braves had a three-run sixth highlighted by Christian Bethancourt's RBI double to center to take a 7-1 lead. Chattanooga, which got within 7-3 in the seventh on J.T. Wise's pinch-hit double to right that scored Jon Garcia and Jan Vazquez, dropped to 10-11 in the league's second half and to 45-46 overall.

Game three of the five-game series is tonight at 8 EDT. Andres Santiago (3-6, 5.00 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Ian Thomas (3-6, 2.98) scheduled for the Braves.
