Barons blank Chattanooga Lookouts, 2-0

Birmingham starting pitcher Spencer Arroyo allowed just three hits in seven innings in the series opener Wednesday, as the Barons beat the Chattanooga Lookous 2-0.

The Barons took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Trayce Thompson's two-out double to left was followed by Dan Black's RBI single to center. Thompson had a sacrifice to center in the third inning after Marcus Semien tripled to left.

The Lookouts (11-15) never had a runner advance to third.

Game two of a five-game series in Birmingham is tonight at 8:05 Eastern.

Chris Reed (1-1, 3.30) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Wes Whisler (0-1, 7.00) scheduled for the Barons.
