The Chattanooga Lookouts returned to their winning ways Friday night at AT&T Field, whipping Jacksonville 5-1 before an announced crowd of 4,058.

Chattanooga starting pitcher Steve Smith worked eight innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six. The Lookouts won for the 12th time in 13 games and improved to 26-26 in the Southern League's second half.

After falling behind in the top of the first inning, the Lookouts opened with an Angel Sanchez double to left field, a Noel Cuevas triple to center and a Daniel Mayora groundout that scored Cuevas and put them up 2-1. Chattanooga took a 3-1 lead in the second inning when Alex Liddi's leadoff single to center was followed by Alberto Rosario's RBI double to left.

Raydel Sanchez (2-6, 5.79 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound in tonight's 7:15 series finale for the Lookouts, with Dustin Moseley (1-1, 2.52) scheduled for the Suns. Moseley, who pitched for the Lookouts from 2002 to 2004, has made 101 big-league appearances, including 53 as a starter.
