Chattanooga Lookouts lose in Birmingham Barons

Chattanooga's pitching, which had been so stout during its recent 11-game winning streak, faltered for a second consecutive night in a series-opening 10-5 loss at Birmingham on Sunday.

Lookouts starting pitcher Andres Santiago gave up a Trayce Thompson triple and a Rangel Ravelo home run in the first inning, and he allowed two more runs in the second inning and had loaded the bases when he was ejected.

Mike Thomas replaced Santiago and gave up a bases-clearing double to right by Jason Coats that put the Barons up 7-1. The Lookouts (26-28) got within 7-5 in the fifth inning, when Chris O'Brien doubled, O'Koyea Dickson tripled and Scott Schebler homered, but that would be as close as it got.

Game two of a five-game series in Birmingham is tonight at 8:05 EDT.

Nick Struck (4-6, 5.91) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Mike Recchia (5-4, 3.32) scheduled for the Barons).
