Travis Harrison and Stuart Turner delivered big hits early and Alex Wimmers was the winning pitcher as the Chattanooga Lookouts beat the host Tennessee Smokies 8-0 on Sunday.

Wimmers (6-3) allowed six hits and a walk while striking out three batters in 6 2/3 innings before giving way to Tim Shibuya. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing a hit and a walk before yielding to Matt Summers for the ninth. Summers allowed a one-out double but ended the threat with back-to-back groundouts.

Wimmers lowered his season ERA to 4.90 with the shutout performance.

Turner went 3-for-4 with a walk and opened the scoring with a two-run home run to left-center field in the second inning. Harrison had a two-RBI single in the third.

The Lookouts added two more runs in the sixth, when Shannon Wilkerson's single brought home Turner and Kennys Vargas drew a bases-loaded walk to score Niko Goodrum.

Chattanooga (54-42) added another run in the seventh as Marcus Knecht scored on a groundout. The final run came in the eighth, when Adam Walker tripled and came all the way around on an infield throwing error, one of five miscues in the game by the Smokies (51-47).

The Lookouts are off today before Tuesday night's 7:15 series opener against Pensacola at AT&T Field. Brett Lee (0-4, 4.33) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts in that game, while the Blue Wahoos have yet to name a starter.
