Hurlbut, Lookouts top Barons, 5-2

The Chattanooga Lookouts clinched an overall winning record this season with a 5-2 Southern League baseball victory Saturday night at Birmingham.

Starting pitcher David Hurlbut improved to 10-6 for the season after allowing the Barons just one run in seven innings. The Lookouts scored two in the seventh, when Jorge Polanco and Max Kepler had RBIs, and two again in the eighth, which was highlighted by Stuart Turner's RBI double to left field.

Chattanooga, the first-half North Division champion, is 71-57 for the season and 28-32 for the second half.

Games three and four of a six-game series in Birmingham are this afternoon, with the first seven-inning game starting at 2:30 EDT. Greg Peavey (6-6, 4.93 ERA) is scheduled to start the opener on the mound for the Lookouts, with Mark Blackmar (5-7, 3.72) scheduled for the Barons.
