Jason Wheeler had a dominant pitching start and Max Kepler hit a pair of home runs Thursday to lead the Chattanooga Lookouts to a 3-0 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's "Night with the Lookouts" in front of 2,770 at AT&T Field.

The Southern League's first-half North Division champions improved to 13-18 for the second half of the season and 56-43 overall, and Thursday's win eliminated a bit of the sting from their 10-9, 10-inning loss Wednesday night.

Wheeler (2-2) threw eight scoreless innings, striking out six. J.T. Chargois allowed two baserunners in the ninth but struck out two Wahoos in earning his eighth save of the year.

Kepler, who was 3-for-4, hit his first homer in the bottom of the third inning, one batter after a Heiker Meneses sacrifice fly that scored Aderlin Mejia. Kepler's second shot added an insurance run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth.

Shannon Wilkerson had two hits for the Lookouts, who host Pensacola again tonight at 7:15.
