Kepler leads Lookouts past Barons, 5-1

Mex Kepler had two RBI doubles as the Chattanooga Lookouts won 5-1 over the Barons in Birmingham on Thursday night.

Chattanooga won for the 12th time in 14 games to improve to 21-13 in the Southern League's first half.

Kepler drove in runs in the fourth and eighth innings and is hitting .333 for the season. Mike Gonzales drove in runs in the second and eighth innings, and Adam Walker had an RBI triple in the fifth.

Lookouts starting pitcher Greg Peavey worked seven innings, allowing a run on four hits.

Game six of the six-game series is tonight at 8:05 EDT. D.J. Baxendale (3-0, 1.24 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Tyler Danish (4-0, 2.76) scheduled for the Barons.
