Walker's 30th homer sparks 7-1 Lookouts win

The Chattanooga Lookouts closed out their six-game Southern League series at Birmingham with a 7-1 win on Tuesday.

The Lookouts were at their aggressive bests, stealing five bases and putting continual pressure on the Barons. Adam Brett Walker II started the scoring with his 30th homer in the second inning, and the Lookouts followed with four runs in the third for a 5-1 lead. Max Kepler and Travis Harrison had sacrifice flies, with Walker and D.J. Hicks adding run-scoring singles in the inning, which also included three steals.

Kepler and Harrison added RBIs in the fourth as the lead grew to 7-1.

D.J. Baxendale (7-5) earned the pitching win with six strong innings, allowing just four hits and one run. Chattanooga had eight hits and benefited from nine walks. Levi Michael had three hits in the win.

The Lookouts are off today and will begin their final series of the regular season at home Thursday night at 7:15 against Jackson. Jason Wheeler (4-2, 3.83 ERA), who was sent to Chattanooga from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Stephen Landaruzi (1-6, 4.82) scheduled for the Generals.
